The Program Vice President (PVP), IT Management and DevOps is responsible for researching, writing and advising clients on current and emerging/next-generation IT and application management strategies and products. The PVP will be responsible for managing a team of analysts contributing to research and revenue goals and achieving overall program profitability on a quarterly and annualized basis. This includes serving as both a player and coach in delivering consulting expertise, customized research and technical white papers and presentations to external audiences.
This leadership position will require extensive expertise in enterprise IT management strategies and solutions as well as the implementation of DevOps processes, procedures and related technologies, both on premise and in cloud deployments. Responsibilities include:
Technology Analysis: Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) as it pertains to enterprise management software, DevOps, IT management software for public and private cloud operations, data center automation, virtualization and container management and performance and availability management. Specifically, across – technologies, products, vendors, and associated services. Leverages deep insight on product architectures to analyze technologies that are potentially disruptive.
Thought-leadership: Strategizes and provides thought leadership on management technologies, leading use cases, adoption trends, architectural considerations, market dynamics and competitive alternatives. Understands and articulates the impact of emerging business and technology trends and their implications for client and its customers.
Consulting: Develops and/or customizes management and DevOps research and consulting projects to meet the specific needs of the external customers. Consulting projects can come in the form of technical papers, webcasts, on-site strategy sessions, primary research, videos or presentations at events.
Verbal & Written Communications: Provides expertise to in the form of authoring technology analysis, use case papers, case studies, presentations at conferences and events, technical whitepapers and other thought-leading research reports/studies. An enjoyment in writing about data center technology, use cases and deployments is essential for success in this position.
Business Development: Utilizes technical knowledge to develop and implement solutions that drive change to gain competitive market share, control costs, increase operational efficiencies, improve productivity, accelerate delivery time, enhance customer service, drive revenue, and cultivate business growth.
Personnel and P&L Management: Serves as the senior leader mentoring other team members, collaborating with other analysts and, overseeing successful completion of projects. Management of the P&L requires not only facilitating customer satisfaction but working closely with IDC Sales to build and nurture new business to achieve overall profit expectations
Extensive knowledge of the enterprise IT management industry, at least five years of expertise, serving in a consulting or advisory capacity to clients.
Previous management experience mentoring personnel of different levels and abilities
A passion for client engagement with previous business development and P&L management expertise.
Management software expertise - including architectures, services and strategies used to deploy IT resources for physical, container-based and virtual machine deployments on premises and in the cloud.
Knowledge of IT management software for public and private cloud operations, data center automation, virtualization and container management and performance and availability management
Strong technical background in enterprise systems management architectures and deployments, and their use cases. Understanding of emerging technologies such as containers, container management
Ability to travel up to 30%-35% during Spring and Fall periods (Travel varies depending on coverage area and client events)
