In support of our Corporate Strategy, Staples is making aggressive investments to push Staples eCommerce business to the new levels through innovation led product management. The Product Analyst will join a growing Global eCommerce team tasked with planning, managing and operating the Staples North American businesses.


Position Summary:

The Product Analyst will utilize problem solving, data mining, requirement-gathering and business analysis skills to develop key strategic quantitative analysis and help influence the product roadmap based on these findings. The ecommerce product management team is looking for a key contributor that is detailed-oriented; data driven and can thrive in a cross-functional and upbeat environment. Specific product focus areas may include:

  • Strategic & eCommerce Business Optimization Initiatives
  • eCommerce Post Transaction Domain including Order History, Product Reviews, Chat and Returns

The Product Analyst will utilize available data, insights, and voice of the customer/associates to make informed decisions about product roadmaps and their prioritization. He/she will keep abreast of evolving industry tools and technologies that enhance the website, inside sales & field sales experience to better serve Staples customers. Given the highly strategic and cross-channel nature of this role, the successful individual must possess a unique combination of structured strategic thinking, passion, and curiosity for technology, as well as strong leadership and collaboration skills.

This role would report to the Staples Digital Solutions Product and Engineering Director.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, measure and incorporate learning from existing products back into future roadmaps
  • Collect and document requirements from various stakeholders across cross-functional teams and business units
  • Partner with Sales, CS, UX and Analytics teams to gain insights from core customers to help drive future product requirements and features execution
  • Partner with product managers and clients to identify, document, and evaluate product requirements and roadmaps
  • Create user stories from existing requirements to prioritize and groom with agile team
  • Create and document test cases for User Acceptance Testing
  • Execute against project goals and deliverables within scope and budget
  • While not a developer, you should be able to speak to technical professionals about platform capabilities and possible trade-offs to product requirements
  • Collaborate with the UX and Design team to produce clear wireframes, workflows and visual designs ready for handoff to development
  • Analysis & Reporting
  • Combine the love and knowledge of quantitative data analysis across very large data sets with solid presentation skills to make recommendations to partners and leadership
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports to demonstrate project status, product success and sales trends

Basic * Bachelor's Degree (technical discipline preferred) * Min of 3-5 years’ experience in at-least two of the following areas: o Product management o Management/Technology Consulting o eCommerce strategy o Data science/analytics o Project management * Well versed in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint * Excellent communication and presentation skills * Ability to juggle multiple projects with varying degrees of priorities * Track record of writing clear and concise product requirements, status updates and product results * Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to persuasively present insights and recommendations to senior management * Enjoys working in a fast paced environment and operate under tight deadlines

Preferred

  • Master’s preferred
  • Experience partnering with technical teams to deliver results
  • Comfort with tracking and collaboration software like JIRA
  • Experience with SQL, Tableau or other BI tools strongly desired
  • Experience with web technologies
