The Mid-Market team is at the center of Staples’s 20/20 strategy and is instrumental to the planned sales growth among Mid-Market customers. Through a combination of digital and physical strategies, we plan to take share from the competition by relentlessly focusing on improving the lives of small and medium sized businesses. The Mid-Market is expanding and we want you to be a focal part of the growth!

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Your primary role will be to support the SVP of the Mid-Market organization and his staff to drive the successful execution of the Staples 20/20 growth strategy. This strategy has board and CEO level visibility, and is the primary lever we will use to change the trajectory of the Staples North American business. Jointly, the SVP and his team runs inside sales, outside sales, sales strategy and execution, membership programs, and the Staples.com ecommerce site.

This support will take the form of a variety of projects and initiatives, ranging in size and scope, and all directed at making the Mid-Market team succeed. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and self-managing, eager to help, intellectually curious, a seeker of truth, insightful in thinking, exceptional in communication, and driven to succeed and grow. Expect to work with, and even for, all members of the senior team on projects. Expect the role to constantly evolve. Expect to work hard. Expect to have a lot of fun!

Some of the things you can expect to do in supporting the team:

  • Find answers to tough questions

  • Perform various analysis – ranging from financial modeling to customer survey interpretation

  • Spend time learning from customers, salespeople, ecommerce engineers, marketers, merchants, etc.

  • Assist in developing and articulating long-range plans

  • Develop Board/CEO presentation with the SVP of Mid-Market

  • Help facilitate and coordinate senior staff meetings – both regular meetings and long-range planning

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelors

    • MBA preferred

    • Minimum 2 years in strategy role

    • Minimum 2 years in a senior communication-heavy role

    • Consulting experience preferred

    Requirements

    • Exceptional communication skills

    • Strong analytical background

    • Relevant experience in strategic problem solving

    • Relevant experience in senior level communications

    • Demonstrated track record of success and leadership

    • Proven ability to work with others effectively at all levels of seniority

    • Mastery of PowerPoint and Excel

    • Experience in additional analytics and business intelligence tools preferred

    • Can do attitude and willingness to tackle any ask
