International Data Group Events Editor in Framingham, Massachusetts

IDG Enterprise Events are where busy IT executives come to learn, network and get new ideas for driving innovation and value at their ever-changing organizations. Our portfolio of multi-day national, single-day regional and vast array of custom events serve to inspire current and future leaders to move their organizations forward and lead through change.

We are looking for an Events Editor to help us with that mission. We need someone who understands the IT landscape and can speak to our prospective attendee base like a peer, using simple but compelling language to explain the value proposition of our events and what they will learn about there. While writing, editing and proofreading marketing copy, you’ll also contribute to the content of the events themselves. From researching topics to create slide decks for moderators to recruiting speakers, building discussion guides and maybe even writing blog posts, you are a savvy multi-tasker able to dive into new technology topics and turn around projects quickly. Your clean copy doesn’t need an editor (though you’ll have one) and your eye for detail ensures only the highest quality material goes public.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Writing, editing and proofreading copy for email campaigns, event websites and other collateral;

  • Joining calls with clients (i.e., sponsors) to capture objectives and content for custom events;

  • Researching topics and building slide decks for use at events;

  • Assisting with speaker recruitment on a variety of programs;

  • Assisting with speaker communications as needed;

  • Managing creation and execution of speaker- and content-related social media (Twitter and LinkedIn);

  • Opportunity to contribute to events blog and other event initiatives.

Qualifications will include:

  • 5+ years editorial or marketing experience in IT media/the technology industry

  • The keen eye of a copy editor for grammar, style, usage and typos

  • Strong writing and research skills

  • Ability to multi-task across project types and programs

  • Collaborative team player

  • Curiosity about technology and IT

  • A bachelor’s degree

  • This position will report to the Group VP for Customer Experience and Operations initially, with dotted lines to the senior director of marketing and the VP of content development and strategy.

Please be sure to upload a formatted version of your resume and cover letter during the application process.
