The Sr. Product Manager will drive the building and extending of products and services used to improve the reliability and performance of network transport service and applications delivered over the Internet. The role will involve working closely with business development, sales, cross-divisional engineering, other product managers, and Akamai services and support to drive the overall success of the product line.

As a Sr. Product Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Drive the user experience for Akamai’s Enterprise products including the strategy and requirements for a best in class user interface.

  • Lead product management efforts around the collection and analysis of data used to communicate the performance gains and customer value of our Enterprise products.

  • Identify product requirements and drive the product roadmap from both end customer and channel led routes to market.

  • Work closely with the business development team to explore new service provider partnerships and strengthen existing ones.

  • Work with engineering in an agile development model.

  • Act as an evangelist for the project line leveraging strong verbal and presentation skills.

  • Proactively own and influence the execution of the product enablement business plans across the organization.

  • Assist in driving customer-facing engagement in product design and proof of concept/fast prototyping activities

About the Team

The Enterprise Business Unit is a group of industry leading professionals dedicated to owning and driving the innovation and adoption of Akamai’s business application, hybrid network and cloud platform products. You will join an extremely bright and driven group of product managers tasked with growing Akamai to the next level in the cloud market place.

Required Education and Experience

  • 10 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Sciences or Engineering or

  • 8 years of relevant experience and a Master’s Degree

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years overall relevant experience

  • 10+ years of Product Management experience w/in a technology organization OR 5+ years of Product Management experience combined with prior product development experience.

  • 5 years of experience with internet-related technologies.

Desired Skills

Strong knowledge in one or more of these areas is required:

  • Proven track record building highly scalable managed services (service provider environment a major plus)

  • Understanding of the service provider ecosystem

  • Internet technology and/or Application Delivery experience.

  • Strong understanding and knowledge of network monitoring systems

  • Enterprise or service provider networking experience and technology knowledge.

  • Overall understanding of security best practices and technologies.

  • Situational fluency, ability to influence and motivate others, and perseverance to handle challenging business situations.

  • Ability to gather data from the market and customers to analytically determine business priorities.

  • Desire for on-going challenges and interest in continuously learning about new business practices and technologies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a broad range of technical and business audiences.

  • Must be a team player.

  • Experience with cloud based SaaS Applications (Office365, Google Docs, Salesforce) a plus

  • Akamai experience a plus.
