We are seeking an experienced and passionate event manager to help plan, organize and execute meetings and events, including sales trainings, sales incentive trips, and customer forums and events.

The Senior Event Manager will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with client groups to define event goals, objectives and specific implementation plans that achieve desired outcomes.

  • Determine fiscal requirements and prepare budgetary recommendations.

  • Negotiate agreements with outside providers and subcontractors to ensure lowest cost and highest quality of service.

  • Supervise, direct and coordinate the activities of subcontractors and vendors as required to successfully execute all aspects of the event.

  • Source venues, recommend and engage catering, acquire supporting technology and coordinate development of materials to execute a quality event.

  • Oversee procurement purchasing and client service needs with regard to catering, audiovisual, security and rental needs for events.

  • Conduct post-event debriefing sessions.

  • Provide post-event analysis, budget recaps and participant feedback and incorporate learning into future plans.

About the Team

This position is part of the Akamai corporate marketing organization, reporting to the Director of Event Marketing

Basic Qualifications

*8+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field

*Must have a mix of event planning and event strategy experience (blend of corporate and agency experience preferred)

*Corporate event experience is required

*Must be able to travel 5-6 weeks out of the year overall.

  • Experience planning and creating high touch, highly experiential, events for clients, employees and/or executives

*Exceptional program management and organizational skills

*Sophistication and finesse in event design

*Ability to manage events of varying sizes and levels of complexity

*Solid contract negotiation skills

*Excellent budget management skills, including the ability to meet monthly deadlines and quarterly spend requirements
