As Akamai’s Senior Director, Global Brand & Messaging, you will lead the team responsible for answering the question “Why Akamai?” externally and internally. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of Akamai’s global brand positioning and messaging strategies and corporate identity system including:
As a Senior Director, Global Brand & Messaging you will:
Own positioning strategy for marketing communications including brand, segment, customer, and solution messaging, competitive response, marketing plans, internal, etc.
Lead cross-functional brand and messaging projects, and work closely with Executive Leadership, Product Management, Product Marketing, and Field Marketing to ensure consistent execution in market.
Ensure flawless development of brand messaging in all marketing tactics and activations, internal and external.
Author inspiring creative briefs. Be a primary stakeholder for all major creative reviews, approvals and deliverables.
Set global policy and practice for building and protecting the brand and ensuring its application is in alignment with the company’s business objectives and strategies.
Develop and provide brand management guidance and tools to all Akamai operations worldwide (brand strategy, identity system, portfolio planning tools, etc.).
Lead the integration/assimilation of the brand into all external and internal communications.
Create brand content (e.g. case studies, product videos, website copy, blog posts, etc.) to articulate the benefits of Akamai to the world.
Work with Division liaisons to identify the linkage of brand messaging (segment, target, outcome, capability).
Consult with Divisions on brand and messaging issues and priorities.
Direct the development and deployment of brand standards and strategy including content and format (i.e. online brand resource center content, hard copy guidelines, internal/vendor identity training modules, et. al.).
Serve as brand strategy and identity consultant to Akamai employees on various applications and extensions.
Monitor brand implementation and addressing areas of need/opportunity.
Ensure that regional customization of the brand remains within identity guidelines.
Conduct workshops and train internal organization on brand and messaging initiative.
Manage the brand evolution, expression, and the evaluation of external agencies.
Maintain the overall health of the brand (brand health monitoring) through brand audits and surveys and recommending and implementing corrective measures.
About the Team
Akamai’s Corporate Marketing Team is primarily responsible for elevating Akamai’s Brand by accelerating relevance and awareness among key audiences and influencers and accelerating Akamai’s marketing effectiveness by leveraging data, technology, insights, and streamlined processes to make marketing more efficient & effective.
Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
15 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent or
12 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or
10 years of relevant experience and a PhD
10+ years demonstrating the ability to translate features and benefits of B2B technology products and services into business solution messages and conversations.
10+ years of experience managing brand and messaging initiatives across multiple geographies, platforms and channels.
10+ years working knowledge of the B2B customer journey and the interrelationships between Marketing and Sales.
5+ years working with Enterprise B2B products and services, with an emphasis on cloud and digital technology.
Solid understanding of customer research, brand identity, creative strategy and development, brand health management, and customer acquisition.
Strong leadership skills and ability to work effectively across divisions, geographies, and all levels of leadership.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy in order to make smart decisions and recommendations.
Hands-on experience managing creative and technical resources to deliver outstanding marketing communications.
Global team leadership experience.
Experience with brand health research tools.
