Role Description

Reporting to the Head of Portfolio and Strategy, the Communications Lead will support the development of communications solutions that highlight therapeutic strategies, portfolio progress and scientific innovation for the Internal Medicine Research Unit. The position will partner with the both the Portfolio and Strategy as well as the Business Operations to generate internal and external communication materials for diverse stakeholder audiences utilizing various media.


Prepare internal and external presentations for the CSO and other leadership team members tailored to target audience ranging from lay person to scientific experts.Collect, prepare, maintain collection of program, project, RU, and data slides. Establish a well-organized library of previously presented material to ensure content can be effectively utilized for future presentations.Partner effectively with scientists and clinicians to develop contact for various communications channels.Create and maintain scientific presentation and communication templates and tools.Accountable for developing and maintaining Internal Medicine Research Unit communications channels, including but not limited to: contributions to Pfizer World, websites/SharePoint, email distribution lists, electronic newsletters, posters, video screen content and web casts.Collaborate with the WRD and Internal Medicine Category communications specialists to align scientific communications materials and strategy *Work cooperatively with other global, line, site and corporate communications professionals to achieve business objectives and drive continuous improvement.Explore and implement as appropriate "new" channels to help communicate scientific vision and achievements to the external environment.Create, maintain and communicate communications procedures.Develop and maintain content for intranet sites.Actively identify opportunities to highlight Internal Medicine Research Unit accomplishments, data and initiatives to the broader Pfizer organization and external environment.Manage key communications vendors, including creative services partners as needed.Partner with other support providers / vendors to continuously improve communication operations and execute communications plan (e.g., GO, Creative Services, Informatics).Contribute to internal and external strategic messaging and planning.Develop strong project management capability to ensure timely and successful completion of all communication projects.#LI-SA1


Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.Experience with the biopharmaceutical industry, R&D processes, and the external and internal Business Environment, specific knowledge of Pfizer organization, particularly R&D/Business Units/Enabling Functions a plus.Significant experience converting scientific results and findings into communications materials for different audiences and communication channels.Minimum 5 years experience as communications professional in corporate environment with demonstrated progressive responsibilityHighly knowledgeable of and experience with communications-related technology and tools (e.g., portals, web-based communication vehicles, MS Outlook functionality, etc.).Solid proficiency in a variety of traditional and emerging communications channels.Ability to develop, maintain, and enforce standard communications processes and procedures.Excellent project management skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.Superior presentation, written and verbal communications skills.Proficiency with various design and graphics tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).Excellent customer management skills and ability to understand and respond to internal and external customers perspectives and needs.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and work well under pressure.Track record of successfully working effectively in multidisciplinary teams in a highly matrix-based organization.A proven ability to leverage internal and external relationships to achieve results and meet the needs of an organization.Ability to quickly/effectively prioritize and balance a large number of competing tasks and deliverables in real-time and on a regular basis.Possess a high energy level, sense of urgency, creativity, decisiveness, ability to work hard and well under pressure.Ability to work independently, to own deliverables from end to end, and to respond to tight timelines. *Strong computer and analytic skills including experience leveraging necessary applications - proficiency in all Microsoft Office Products.Experience working in a global and multicultural organization, including working across national and international boundaries and Biotech vs Big Pharma.*Excellent planning and problem solving skills with proven ability to deliver high-quality solutions.#LI-SA1
