Job Description

MEDIA PRODUCTION AND DESIGN ASSISTANT, MIT News Office, to focus on image generation, graphic design, and asset management and organization. Responsibilities include image selection and/or creation for stories produced by the MIT News Office; image production for top social media accounts at MIT; performing searches for stock images for use in spotlights or story pages; coordinating homepage assets as needed; image optimization for posting online; placing spotlight files into content management system; collecting and archiving images; serving as back-up to the creative director as needed on image production, graphic design, and image selection; working with the creative director to develop spotlights as needed; and assisting with responding to requests for images from news media and others.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a minimum of three years of experience (which may include professional internships), preferably in an editorial setting; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work independently; and experience with Adobe Creative Suite. Seek a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who is able to make careful decisions in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor’s degree in design, communications, or related field preferred. Experience with animation and motion graphics preferred, as is experience using a content management system (CMS). Experience with visually illustrating science and technology and/or familiarity with these fields is desirable. Photography skills a plus. Job #15015-5
