Duties & Responsibilities
This full-time exempt position in the Harvard College Fund (HCF) reports to the Executive Director of Reunion and Annual Campaigns and is responsible for overseeing reunion and leadership annual fundraising activity to raise both capital and annual support from alumni for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) under the guidance of the Senior Executive Director Individual Giving and the FAS Senior Management Group. This role manages 4+ class officers (Associate and/or Assistant Directors). Monitors class fundraising plans, leadership enlistment, volunteer training, and solicitation. Assists with class campaign and individual prospect strategies. Participates in committee meetings and conference calls as appropriate. Also may have responsibilities managing a portfolio of major gift, special gift, and annual donors, collaborating with the Capital Giving, Principal Giving, Annual Campaigns, and FAS Gift Planning teams. Travels periodically over the course of the year to recruit volunteer leaders, solicit gifts, staff events and meetings, and represent the FAS Development senior staff team. This position requires a strong command of fundraising principles, a high level of organization, professionalism, and a familiarity with the objectives of annual and reunion fundraising, particularly in the context of The Harvard Campaign.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. As a manager within the Harvard College Fund, participates in decision making and is responsible for carrying out policies and strategies. Works with other senior leaders to develop and guide strategic direction for the organization. Operates in close coordination with the other Managing Directors, Reunion Campaigns, to develop and implement a consistent strategy and approach to Reunion fundraising and to achieve efficiencies wherever possible across all Reunion classes.
2. Manages, trains, and mentors 4+ class officers (Associate or Assistant Director-level) including annual performance planning and evaluation. Oversees and helps coordinate the planning of officers' fundraising activities and participates when appropriate. Ensures appropriate fundraising plans are in place and monitors ongoing activity.
Bachelor's degree at an accredited university with a minimum of 8 years of experience in university fundraising and administration or related transferable experience. Demonstrated success in annual or capital giving or applicable ability, writing fundraising materials, devising sophisticated cultivation and solicitation strategies, volunteer management, and event management.
Excellent public speaking, presentation, and written communication skills required.
