Harvard Kennedy School (HKS) is the premier resource for Executive Education for public leaders around the world. The Strategic Market and Program Development (SMPD) group within Executive Education (EE) is responsible for new program and new business development for the department. Each year we contract new custom programs for clients worldwide and develop and launch new open enrollment courses. The Senior Coordinator of Program Development position is critical in the unit’s work with faculty, client organizations and other Executive Education units and HKS departments.
As a member of the SMPD team, engage with external organizations and HKS faculty to cultivate new program opportunities, oversee the Executive Education portfolio of multi-program fellowships, and undertake market and program development activities.
Client relationship development and management
Responsible for and oversee development of 150+ incoming leads to the SMPD unit annually
a. Serve as the initial point of contact for all requests for new programs and engagement by external organizations
b. Analyze all incoming leads and develops and oversee on-line Qualtrics lead qualification tools and process.
c. Prepare briefing memos to recommend client qualifications to Executive Director
d. Actively support the sponsored program proposal and contracting activities of the unit
Hold meetings with EE participants who are prospective custom program clients
Own the unit’s lead tracking system for current and potential clients
Develop and maintains database of all business development activity for the unit and department. Participate in regular business development meetings to review leads and report on new activity.
Executive Education Fellowships- Multi-Program Administration
Oversee and grow the EE department’s portfolio of multi-program fellowships and group reservations
a. Serve as the point of contact with all external entities for the development of multi-program reservations for their constituencies
b. Hold meetings with EE participants or organizations who are current and/or prospective fellowship or group reservation clients
c. Liaise with other departments at HKS, including research centers and Alumni Relations/Resource Development to coordinate this program and its requirements
d. Provide client and internal HKS reporting on group reservations and multi-program fellowships as required or requested
e. Limited travel to client organizations to develop, maintain, and expand this portfolio of activities.
Markets and Program Development Support
Actively participates in SMPD market development initiatives (identified annually)
Undertake customer relationship management database (Talisma) data research for unit projects, and serve as a data and database resource for unit.
Develop and maintain SMPD K-Net (intranet) site
Provide day-to-day administrative support for Executive Director. This includes: managing document production for proposals, letters, memoranda, including final formatting, printing, and filing as needed; coordinate activities in support of visiting delegations to HKS and Executive Education, including preparation of meeting schedules and agendas, coordinating meetings with other HKS or Executive Education units and staff, and providing assistance in hosting visitors
