Massachusetts Institute of Technology Communications Coordinator in Cambridge, Massachusetts
COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR, Legatum Center, to provide a creative yet consistent voice through crafting and delivering content such as blogs, articles, newsletters, website content, press releases and high-level documents such as concept notes, fund-raising materials, reports, presentations, speeches, and possibly case studies. Will work with a team and synthesize its ideas into relevant and compelling communication pieces. The work will generally consist of 50% outreach and promoting student visibility, 40% creation of high-level communications, and 10% on other requests. Will provide guidance to the staff for consistent messaging and organize and centrally manage all communication pieces produced.
REQUIRED: a minimum of three years of direct experience in marketing and communications; B.A./B.S. (master’s preferred) in English, communications, journalism, or related field; excellent command of written and spoken English; strong editing skills; familiarity with a common style standard such as APA or MLA; at least one year of experience blogging online or in a similar style in a different medium; strong social media skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office; and some knowledge of Adobe products. Must be able to juggle multiple assignments and deliver quality materials by agreed upon deadlines, keep pace with the ever-changing media landscape, clearly communicate materials needed from others, and prioritize/coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. A strong understanding of MIT, the developing world context, and the entrepreneurship or emerging technologies space would be a plus; as would case writing experience. Job #15068
May be required to work after-hours and attend weekend events (10-15%) and possibly travel.
This is a two-year term position with possibility of extension.
