Massachusetts Institute of Technology Associate Director, Leadership Giving in Cambridge, Massachusetts
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, LEADERSHIP GIVING, Resource Development (RD), to be responsible for the management and leadership of a team of fund-raising colleagues focused on enhancing and advancing philanthropy at MIT at the $100k to $5M levels for one or more defined geographic markets. This includes personnel management; budget oversight; regional strategic planning; regional prospect management; team performance; annual fund-raising results from the region; communications and coordination with other RD functions, the Alumni Association, and the schools; managing own portfolio of prospects. Will oversee strategic planning, establishing assumptions, expectations, and goals for the region; ensuring that all facets of the RD prospect management system are up-to-date for the region; overseeing the activities of the team, including travel, events, and related expenditures; motivating the best possible performance of regional team and OLG team overall, including rewarding good work/outcomes, providing guidance, and coaching; conducting annual performance evaluations, with thoughtful attention to providing feedback, building motivation, inspiring performance excellence, addressing performance problems, and assessing professional development needs and opportunities.
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; minimum of seven years’ direct fund-raising experience, preferably with a higher education organization; three years’ proven success managing high performing teams; successful strategic planning and goal setting experience; demonstrated ability to deal effectively with benefactors and prospects of the Institute; track record for closing major gifts; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, faculty, and volunteers; and proven record of accomplishment in a position requiring a high degree of collaboration across business units, independent planning, and efficient utilization of time and resources. Advanced education desirable. Familiarity with the business markets within assigned territory a plus. Job #14930-Q
