Massachusetts Institute of Technology Associate Director, Academic Departments & Student Alumni Relations in Cambridge, Massachusetts
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS AND STUDENT ALUMNI RELATIONS, Alumni Association, to collaborate with the director of student/alumni relations on increasing engagement of graduate-exclusive alumni with MIT through shared oversight of a Graduate Alumni Council, and identify new roles for graduate degreed alumni to volunteer in an effort to work toward greater diversity of degree type among volunteers at the highest level. Will serve as main contact with academic departments, focusing on engaging MIT’s graduate student exclusive (GSE) alumni population; identify MIT department stakeholders and coordinate with them to generate programming and outreach for GSE alumni; develop a deep understanding of the GSE population through partnering with campus stakeholders, including administrative offices, the Graduate Student Council, and other graduate student organizations; and manage a variety of activities across the Venn diagram--including face-to-face, volunteer, virtual and philanthropic engagement--to best increase the unique number of fully engaged graduate degree only students and alumni in the life of MIT.
REQUIRED: a bachelor's degree; a minimum of three years’ experience in alumni relations, marketing, and editing; strong analytical, organizational, strategic thinking, web development, and project management skills; experience working with volunteers, senior staff, and administration; proficiency with alumni databases and standard PC applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Encompass (by iModules), and PowerPoint; excellent interpersonal and superior customer service and written and oral communication skills; editing skills; detail orientation; ability to set goals and priorities; and experience recruiting and managing alumni volunteers. Alumni relations experience in a university or professional school is strongly preferred. Job #15210-O
