The Azure Technical Director is responsible for leading, developing, and managing a team of high performing pre-and-post-sales solution architects aligned toward delivering customer success on the Azure cloud platform.

This sales district leadership role is primarily responsible for accelerating consumption of Azure services through meaningful, transformative engagements at Microsoft’s customers, focused on success and trust.

This includes working in collaboration with the corresponding Microsoft account teams, Microsoft Consulting Services teams, and Microsoft’s worldwide network of Azure partners.

The Azure Technical Director plays a pivotal role in Microsoft’s intelligent cloud strategy, and is responsible for recognizing, recruiting, developing, and leading diverse technical talent capable of guiding Microsoft’s customers through their own unique digital transformation journey.

Key Accountabilities:

•Hire, develop, coach, and lead a team of high-performing Azure Solution Architects to meet district Azure consumption targets through deep technical engagement and trusted relationships.

•Develop a strategy of assessing customer needs and ensuring the right Azure Solution Architect resources are aligned opportunistically from a skills, experience, and capability to drive impact perspective.

•Act as a technical escalation point to amplify the effectiveness of the team through deep Microsoft product, business group, licensing, corporate and legal relationships.

•Act as a business escalation point to remove technical blockers via acting as executive sponsor to customer technical decision makers and can speak with the ‘voice of the customer’ to internal Microsoft stakeholders.

•Develop data-driven business cases to distill customer needs and challenge internal assumptions.

•Grow Microsoft’s presence in the region through customer references, successful deployments, local events and community building.

•Develop a consistent, operationalized methodology for tracking, analyzing, reporting, and drawing insights from customer usage of Azure through technical expertise and critical questioning of trends.

•Establish relationships with partners; engage in joint account planning, vetting of partner capabilities, research partner engagements, provide references to partner engagements. Build a bench of go-to Azure partners for both specialized and broad engagements.

•Establish key performance indicators for tracking usage against consumption targets and report out on targets monthly through deep, project-level insight.

•Strategize with district sales leadership to support the sales process through deep understanding of sales cycles, forecasting, and revenue accountabilities. Aid in development of consumption plans to drive opportunities forward.

•Strategize with peer solution sales management to develop joint opportunities to cross-sell the Microsoft Cloud across a diverse portfolio of holistic, enterprise-grade products.

Experience Desired:

Basic Qualifications:

•8+ years of related experience: technical sales leadership roles, managing high performance technical sales engineers or pre-sales architects and demonstrating deliverables driven by customer obsession.

•8+ years of managing high performance technical sales engineers or pre-sales architects

Preferred Qualifications:

•A passion for developing, growing, and retaining people - Microsoft’s most important asset.

•Prior work experience in a customer-facing, leadership position within a software and/or services company such as Salesforce, Amazon, VMware, Google, IBM, Avanade, Wipro, CSC, HP, Infosys, Dell, TCS, Rackspace.

•Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers, and emerging computing trends. Proven track record of building deep technical relationships with senior executives and growing cloud consumption share in large or highly strategic accounts.

•Extensive experience in working across teams is required. Proven track record of driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring engagement velocity.

•Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills. Executive level communication skills (both written and verbal/presentation), and the ability to mentor others.

•Solid interpersonal skills, cross-group collaboration and proven ability to influence across organizational boundaries.
