DNV GL Senior Consultant – Competitive Energy Markets in Burlington, Massachusetts

DNV GL’s Market and Policy Development group is seeking a Senior Consultant to provide market analysis expertise for the DNV GL competitive Energy Markets subscription services, consulting services, and strategic studies. The Senior Consultant will be expected to assist in driving the research agenda and producing client-ready deliverables. This position is based out of our Burlington, MA office and reports to the Head of Section Competitive Energy Markets.

Responsibilities:

Tasks include

  • Active Business Development and key account management

  • Act as a subject matter expert for DNV GL’s Retail Energy Markets (REM) team by producing original research and commentary on all deregulated state power supply and demand conditions, competitive market participant products and activities, state policies that may impact competitive markets, and energy pricing trends.

  • Collaborate with other subject matter expert colleagues to ensure timely, consistent, and accurate flow of thought-leading insights on topics related to area of focus.

  • Contribute to customized consulting projects as required, driven by business needs.

  • Respond to clients' inquiries by providing deep subject matter expertise and timely insight, utilizing resources and judgment to address questions, and/or refer questions to senior level staff.

  • Creatively present project results, including the use of graphics, for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Continuously develop subject matter expertise in area of focus and expand knowledge into related fields/disciplines by: actively contributing to above listed activities; pursing activities/work in various disciplines; staying abreast of current/hot topics; and contributing to written/published products.

  • Communicate with clients by phone, make presentations to clients, and travel to meet clients.

  • Responsible for creating original market analysis and content for the REM team’s syndicated research and ad-hoc client requests.

  • Project management of DNV GL’s REM Team project deliverables

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business or related discipline required.

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Business or related discipline preferred.

  • Experience in electric and/or gas deregulation (markets, policies, pricing, finances) strongly preferred.

  • Requires strong analytical skills, with emphasis on insights and recommendations to senior audiences.

  • Requires highly effective verbal and written English communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of business to enable effective/productive communications with key people including senior level clients.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and ability to navigate and excel in a complex organization and relate successfully to a variety of people externally and internally.

  • Highly organized and creative with accomplished time and project management skills.

  • Able to work independently with limited oversight.

  • A keen attention to detail and highly effective organization and prioritization skills, including the ability to stay on task and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); experience with databases preferred.
