Oracle Editor and Technical Writer in Burlington, Massachusetts
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.
As a member of the technical writing division, you will organize and prepare information for publication and develop publication concepts for the best communication of subject matter. Review technical information prepared by other staff members for clarity and content. Take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

The Oracle Fusion Supply Chain Management and Procurement Information Development team develops user assistance, instructional videos, and courseware to support Oracle SCM and Procurement SaaS and on-premise applications. Our team works closely with the product development team throughout the development process.
This position involves performing language, substantive, format, and mechanical edits of user assistance content aimed at end users, implementers, and administrators of business software. This position also involves designing, developing, and delivering new user assistance content for software products.
At least 8-10 years of experience in technical editing and writing.
Proven ability to perform high-quality edits (language, substantive, format, and mechanical edits) of software documentation within reasonable time frames and with little oversight.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills; ability to prepare written communication and convey information clearly and effectively through both formal and informal documents.
Thorough experience with DITA, minimalism, and topic-based writing. Well-versed in writing for the web, with a less formal, approachable, active voice.
Proven skills in effective visual information design.
Demonstrable ability to provide direct, concise, well-organized feedback on writing with tact, humility, and support.
Ability to grasp and communicate technical and functional concepts quickly and effectively.
Ability to effectively prioritize, schedule, and meet aggressive deadlines across several projects, and to provide timely and accurate status communications about projects.
Organized, professional, and motivated, and able to work independently and within a team. Sense of humor a plus.
Flexibility and willingness to work with team members in many time zones, and at varying levels of experience in the technical writing domain.
Knowledge of the domain audience, such as end users, business analysts, and implementers, is highly desirable.
