Global Treasury (GT) is responsible for overall balance sheet management including credit, interest rate, and liquidity risk management. Global Treasury’s Liability Management (LM) Group is responsible for long and short term funding, cross currency funding, derivative trading, short term investments, and share repurchases. LM is currently looking for a Sales Trader who will have primary responsibility for the company’s interest rate derivative trading, as well as secondary responsibility for several other trading activities. An ideal candidate will have a strong trading background, and be well versed in recent banking regulations including Volcker.


  • Responsible for the analysis and execution for all interest rate derivative activity conducted by Global Treasury

  • Recommends and implements trading and hedging strategies to minimize risk of interest rate and foreign exchange exposures through use of derivatives

  • Assists in managing the relationships with the investment banking community to obtain relevant capital markets information and observes trends in the rates market

  • Assists in the execution of capital markets strategies

  • Oversee Global Treasury’s Volcker reporting; identify Volcker functions which can be more appropriately performed by other groups; ensure a proper control process with regard to regulatory reporting and execution of trades

  • Monitors market liquidity, pricing and volatility. Escalates trading opportunities and risks factors through appropriate management channels

  • Advises senior management and related functions on important trends and developments in regulations and markets

  • Act as a trader for other Global Treasury sectors, both on the asset and liability side

  • Maintains awareness of the global regulatory environment, ensures compliance, analyzes potential impacts and formulates responses for Liability Management

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of fixed income instruments, financial markets and economics

  • Ensures compliance with internal risk and counterparty guidelines

  • Recommends technology integration efforts for the funding desk

  • Four year business degree. BS/BA (Finance/Economics preferred)

  • Ten years of experience in financial services or trading environment

  • Experience in derivative trading

  • Experience managing projects/processes

  • Ability to convey complex ideas to senior management

  • Strong knowledge of financial products and balance sheet management

  • Knowledge of new banking regulations

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Familiarity with Summit and Bloomberg systems a plus
