The Communication and Journalism Department at Suffolk University invites applications for a professional-in-residence with Media Lab Coordinator Responsibilities for August 1, 2017.
This professional-in-residence’s primary teaching responsibilities are in video post-production with a specialty in Avid Media Composer and the Adobe Suite. Teaching responsibilities include teaching 2 courses per semester from a variety of video production and post production courses. (This represents a reduced teaching load to other professional-in-residence positions.) Further responsibilities include maintaining the two video editing labs in the Department (hardware and software maintenance), totaling approximately 35 computers, the supervision and troubleshooting for all students using the editing labs, and collaboration with our production specialist—The Director of Video Production Facilities—to create Department video projects (such as a marketing video for the website). The position also needs to provide minor faculty support in relation to the editing labs, such as uploading exams or other teaching materials.
Candidates must hold a master’s degree in media production or related field (though a MFA degree is preferred), have 2-5 years experience in video post production with a specialty in Avid Media Composer and the Adobe Suite, and 1-3 years of teaching experience, ideally in higher education.
Candidates should provide evidence of commitment to excellent teaching and professional potential. Service to the Department and the University through committee membership and student advising is also required.
