Position Summary

The Business Architect is a highly visible role responsible for vetting and designing viable, efficient, and

effective solutions for internal and external customers in the pursuit of CCA’s strategic goals. The successful candidate uncovers gaps between strategic needs of a business unit and the unit’s abilities to meet those needs and charters initiatives to fill those gaps.

The ideal candidate collects information on the strategic positioning of one or more functional areas (e.g., business capability, department/team, etc.) and creates a clear picture of the capability gaps that may impede the area(s) from reaching its full potential. Output from this work may result in specific business re-engineering efforts, functional realignments, and/or implementation of new systems/tools.

With an organization-wide purview, the Business Architect acts as the link between IT and business process solutions and is responsible for working with various levels of individuals across the company

to understand the needs, opportunities, and constraints in order to create and gain alignment on cost effective, visionary strategies that will drive high-quality, and regulatory-compliant results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational direction for design of business solutions.

  • Conduct initial intake assessment by working with key stakeholders cross-functionally to develop initial business cases for all potential strategic projects (includes determination of root causes and complexity to address, resource requirements, and anticipated outcome(s)).

  • Spearhead design of architectural business solutions aligned with business objectives, business processes, and CCA’s operating model.

  • Act as the link between IT platforms and business process management by aligning customer (members, providers, regulators, internal) needs with company goals and business operations.

  • Provide effective, comprehensive approaches to tough business challenges and resolve complex problems that cannot be solved by stereotypical methods or within individual business units.

  • Act as change agent with internal and external customers Design, implement and measure effectiveness of business operating models.

  • Liaise with senior leaders, executives, and middle management to design operating models that integrates business processes with effective, efficient technical solutions.

  • Evaluate options and design business operating model.

  • Employ internal and external resources to determine the business capability/functionality so as to design solutions for business problems.

  • Identify capability gaps that need to be filled in order to achieve set goals and ensure pricing align with solution.

  • Measure the effectiveness of an implemented strategy/ solution to determine whether anticipated outcomes have been attained and/or if there is a need for additional strategies/ solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or Healthcare Management.

  • 7-10 years relevant experience.

  • 8-10 years of experience planning and deploying business and IT initiatives.

  • 8-10 years of demonstrated progression of leadership, responsibility, knowledge, and experience.

  • Experience developing and/or documenting service and capability models.

  • Health plan experience strongly preferred.

  • Outstanding analytical reasoning skills and interpretation of complex and/or technical information.

  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization and ability to influence others. Able to effectively communicate visualizations.

  • Strong situational analysis and decision making abilities; ability to think and act strategically across multiple business, technology, and program delivery concepts.

  • Outstanding leadership and organizational awareness skills.

  • Ability to quickly jump between macro (enterprise-wide) and micro (business process-specific).

  • Ability to build credibility quickly and effectively.

  • Strong foundation in and/or significant previous exposure to information technology.

  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks with tight deadlines with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, result-driven environment.

  • Self-starter.

  • Primarily office environment with limited opportunities for travel (up to 20%) to other CCA sites across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to travel locally via public transportation and/or personal vehicle to other CCA Locations as needed.

  • Computer skills: Microsoft Word; Excel; PowerPoint; Project; Access.
