The International Desk Manager position will focus on:

  • Defining and implementing the strategy of the International Desk, promoting Santanders international capabilities to Santander customers and prospects, particularly within Corporate & Commerical Banking.

  • The International Desk Manager will be responsible for growing revenues with clients and prospects in the US that are subsidiaries of clients of Santander in other units of the group and with Santander clients abroad that may need transactional services in the US. Managerial responsibilities encompass directing a team of one ID Business Development Officer.

  • Developing structured trade business and marketing the full range of trade products for Large Corporate clients and prospects with international presence, in close coordination with Large Corporate relationship managers. The International Desk Manager will participate in developing projects with Legal, Compliance and Operations both, at Santander and other units of Santander worldwide, in order to launch new trade and transactional related products that are already being marketed by other Santander units worldwide and reach formal agreements of cooperation, setting up internal frameworks and procedures, among others, for international cash management, intra-group receivable financing and intra-group documentary credit advising.

  • The International Desk Manager position reports to the Director of International and Commercial Finance.


  • Develops business plans, markets strategies,and setts sales objectives for the International Desk team

  • Promotes Santander’s international capabilitiesto Santander customers and prospects; Promotes transactional services and loanand trade related products to companies referred from other Santander units abroad

  • Refers Santander customers and prospects toSantander offices globally for deposit, cash management services and otherproducts offered domestically and internationally by Santander

  • Serves as a liaison between Santander RelationshipManagers/Sales Officers and Santander when customer issues arise, etc

  • Supports Product Development in coordination withthe Trade Product team, supporting efforts in dealing with Legal, Complianceand Operations in order to launch new trade products that are already marketed by otherSantander units abroad



  • MBA degree or equivalent is preferred

  • At least 5 yearsof previous experience in other Trade / Commercial banking units ofSantander is required

  • Solid knowledge of the organizational setup of the Bank globally and the different units of the Bank is essential

  • Strongknowledge ofSantanderglobal trade andcorporate product set, including supply chain finance solutions in order tosupport launch in theUS

  • Familiarity withECAs, Multi-lateral government agencies, private insurance products

  • Strong Credit Analysisskills

  • Experience in cross selling full range of trade andcommercial related products, both structured and non-structured

  • Fluent in English and Spanish, basic knowledgeof Portuguese is desirable

  • PC proficiency of software applications such asExcel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc

  • Exceptional written and verbal communicationskills, strong presentation skills

  • Entrepreneurial in style – recognizing marketopportunities and driving aggressively for bottom-line improvements anddelivering revenues in a cost effective way
