Center For Health Information And Analysis Director of Communications and Content Strategy in Boston, Massachusetts

Are you a seasoned communications professional with a proven track record for strategic messaging and a passion for advancing a more equitable health care system? Look no further – you could be the ideal candidate for us!

At the Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA), we provide the factual foundation for data-driven health care interventions. CHIA is an independent state agency whose work is trusted by policymakers, health care leaders, and researchers alike to craft policies that improve the quality and equity of care, while keeping costs affordable for Massachusetts families.

We serve as stewards of Massachusetts health data, employing multifaceted datasets and cutting-edge analytics to promote transparency in our health care system. By joining CHIA, you'll help turn health care data into insight by developing compelling content and rollout campaigns that play a pivotal role in evidence-based decision-making.

As Director of Communications and Content Strategy at CHIA, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Set the Standard: Develop and execute an innovative content strategy and calendar that aligns our agency mission, brand goals and objectives. Identify gaps in agency work products based on input and audience analysis and develop strategies to address needs. Help us define when it’s most effective to produce a long-form report or an interactive infographic.

  • Lead a Talented Team: Manage our communications and external affairs department to create, plan, and deliver high-value content that ensures quality, consistency, and alignment with brand voice and messaging. Directly oversee and assist in the production of content for various distribution channels (including web, email, interactive data storytelling pieces, press, public meetings, and social media). Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will also collaborate closely with the Executive Director and other members of senior leadership to set the team's direction and drive agency initiatives.

  • Embrace Continuous Improvement: Set and track key performance indicators to determine content effectiveness, ensuring we meet audience expectations. Solicit user feedback to continuously optimize content effectiveness. Stay on top of industry trends and best practices, identifying opportunities to incorporate new approaches and emerging technologies into our content strategy.

Here are the important qualifications we are looking for:

  • Effective Communication: Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex technical issues clearly and persuasively. Engage stakeholders and foster collaboration through compelling communication.

  • Logical Thinker: Exhibit the ability to synthesize and interpret complex information and concepts logically. Your analytical mindset will enable you to help effectively convey the work of CHIA’s analysts and researchers, highlighting the most insights for our key audiences.

  • People Person and Problem-Solver: Relationship-building and problem-solving skills are essential for this role. The Director of Communications and Content Strategy will be responsible for collaborating and influencing across different levels and functions within and outside the organization.

  • Integrity and Commitment to the Mission: As a state government agency, a public mission is at the core of all we do. CHIA’s success hinges on the integrity of our staff and the work product we deliver.

  • Specialized Expertise: Bring at least ten years of professional communications and marketing experience, with at least five years in people management.

  • Educational Foundation: Possess a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, social sciences, or public policy, providing the necessary foundational skills for success in this role.

    Other things to know:

  • We foster a flexible, collaborative environment, offering a hybrid model that balances in-person and remote work. Our hybrid approach allows you to work alongside your colleagues in our vibrant Boston office at 501 Boylston Street for at least two designated days per week, with the flexibility to work remotely on others.

  • We value the talent and expertise you bring to the table, so we offer a competitive salary range of $130,000-$160,000 for this position.
