Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Director Business Development for employment in the Boston, MA office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading all business development strategies and activities for the Energy Savings Program Contract (ESPC) market

  • Identifying and cultivating client relationships and leads that result in energy services and performance contracting opportunities

  • Be involved in identifying, developing, and proposing new energy projects

  • Negotiating partnerships and alliances

  • Structuring and closing transactions

  • Managing senior-level relationships internally and externally

  • Maintaining a sharp focus on the client during project implementation

  • The Director of BD will also be responsible for building and leading a team of 5-10 business development professionals

  • The primary area of focus will be the eastern US, and mostly Federal customers

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, management or business

  • 15+ years of experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Superb project management abilities, both individually and as part of a team

  • Proven expertise in business development and strategy development/execution, particularly in the renewable energy market and with ESPCs

  • Previous experience building and leading teams of business development professionals

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, creative problem-solving, and leadership skills

  • A general knowledge of the financial, technical and political aspects driving the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries

  • Self-directed personality with a commitment to excellence

  • Previous experience working in high-performance organizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful financial close of Federal ESPC and UESC projects, minimum of one, additional will receive higher consideration
