Through this highly visible role in the Global Consumer Markets (GCM) Finance organization, you will gain exposure to our Global and US Consumer Markets (USCM) operations, which make up the largest Strategic Business Unit at Liberty Mutual at over $20B in revenue.

As a Director on the GCM & USCM Financial Analytics team, you will represent Finance in key ongoing, cross-functional projects. You will develop and drive measurement, common currency and analytics for Agile planning, to influence operational and investment decision-making. You will influence planning culture and lead critical analysis to provide consistency and transparency into investment decisions and trade-offs, balancing long-term goals with short-term constraints. You will support our GCM and USCM expense management initiatives through key analysis to inform executive decision-making, as well as participate in various projects in support of our GCM and USCM key priorities.

A finance background is not required; the ideal candidate has strong analytical experience. Responsibilities:

  • Manage USCM’s Agile planning process, developing methodologies, “common currency” metrics, and quarterly KPI monitoring process, leading team in building common tools to evaluate KPI movements consistently across journeys / portfolios

  • Influence changes to planning culture by gaining buy-in from executive leadership functional partners to promote Agile investment decisions

  • Drive quarterly KPI and investment reviews with ELT and support detailed analysis of KPI impacts on budget recommendations

  • Identify, hire and develop top analytical talent

  • Lead team in defining and analyzing KPIs and common currency to drive consistently across portfolios and enable monitoring and trade-offs

  • Support strategy setting, plan guidance and annual planning process through tying investment and operational impacts into annual and long-term plans through Agile prioritization and Efficient Growth

  • Drive insights on the value of existing and emerging growth opportunities to inform strategy

  • Translate long-term growth and profitability findings into calendar year financial impacts to set expectations on financial growth and profit

  • Support the business unit’s operational and strategic objectives through recommendations on investment decisions

  • Provide deep-dive analytics and insight to business partners and leadership for operational expense ratio targets

  • Gain exposure and opportunity to present to Finance and functional leadership across GCM/USCM

Qualifications:


Excellent financial analysis skills; a strong understanding of generally accepted and insurance accounting principles as well as actual insurance industry operations; a fundamental understanding of actuarial techniques; a good understanding of underwriting principles, insurance/financial service products and payment plans, strategic planning, and marketing principles; the ability to apply information technology; oral skills for individual or group communication; writing skills for clear, concise, technically-oriented documents. Skills generally acquired by an advanced degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting and eight to ten years of experience, including at least six in the property-casualty insurance industry.
