Cabot Corporation Global Market Segment Manager-Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomers in Billerica, Massachusetts

Cabot Corporation is seeking a Global Market Segment Manager for our CASE (Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomers) segments to help identify, realize, and commercialize new products in new or existing market segments. The Global Market Segment Manager will own the marketing strategy for our Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomer segments. They will work closely and align with our Global Segment Manager for Coatings. The position will investigate and assess new markets for potential new business development. They will work in collaboration with the technology organization, identify and develop product ideas from inception to viable product launches and lead all related commercialization activities.

  • Assessing potential Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomer market segment sizes, needs, existing and potential competitive situations, technical feasibility and other critical success factors

  • Researching, analyzing, and reporting industry trends and data that impact business’ volume, margins, utilization, and market share

  • Assessing Cabot’s strengths and weaknesses relative to the market segment needs in order to determine business opportunities for market segment growth and expansion into new market segments

  • Developing and accessing new business opportunities, sometimes starting with only an idea or concept

  • Evaluating potential new products against market opportunities/challenges and compatibility with Cabot’s strengths and business strategies

  • Developing market relevant business opportunities that originate in Cabot’s corporate new business development group

  • Developing and delivering business plans for specific market segment opportunities

  • Critically reviewing progress against plan to continuously assess commercial potential, making adjustments as necessary in order to assure optimal profitability

  • Identifying and developing potential internal and external strategic partners in development of these opportunities

  • Working closely with cross-functional counterparts (Sales, Finance, R&D, Manufacturing) and providing project leadership in the development and implementation of plans and strategies to ensure successful introduction and commercialization of products

  • Determining, assessing, and understanding the tradeoffs of various approaches

  • Communicating the status of projects and identifying / leveraging appropriate internal resources

  • Collecting and analyzing market and/or customer validation data that can support decisions regarding continuation or withdrawal from specific opportunities or ventures

  • Managing the new product development pipeline for the market segment using a stage-gate type process

  • Identifying strategic projects to work on to drive growth and lead project execution with cross-functional teams from marketing and applications development and R&D

  • Establishing strategic priorities for market segment intellectual property along with R&D and Applications Development

  • Bachelor degree in a technical or scientific field

  • 5+ years of relevant commercial marketing experience in a complex, global organization

  • 5+ years of experience within either Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants or Elastomers

  • Experience with structual adhesives

  • Communication & Presentation skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to recognize when, how, and with whom things should be communicated

  • Business Savvy: Knowledgeable about all functional elements which are important for business profitability; understands key economic drivers and their effect on business

  • Project Ownership & Management: Ability to take ownership for ensuring the desired outcome of a project and to establish and monitor the project milestones toward the objective

  • Organizational integration and engagement: Ability to work in close alignment with people from other functions and to influence and engage with others to address issues, resolve conflicts and ensure the best overall outcome

  • Technical/Application Knowledge: Knowledgeable about Cabot’s technical capabilities, the applications in which they perform, and how they complement the performance of the Customer
