Our Program Manager/Director Consumer Transparency will play a key role in helping to manage strategic internal/external relationships and the associated program deliverables required to successfully deliver Anthem’s next generation of solutions that make it easier for our members to find and learn more about providers as well as understand the costs of services before they get care.
The consumer transparency team is aggressively growing and we are looking for a skilled and savvy Program Manager/Director. Reporting to the Director of Consumer Transparency, the individual in this role will be responsible for helping to drive a market-leading consumer transparency program within Anthem’s digital solutions portfolio. Consumer transparency solutions span capabilities associated with searching for different types of providers, getting cost estimates for various services, as well as the ability to learn about various elements of provider quality designations, scores, and reviews. Anthem is actively engaged in the development of our next-generation integrated consumer transparency solution with an external vendor partner.
The position requires extensive experience in program management, ideally within complex, digital-based programs/products. Further, the ideal candidate will bring to the table demonstrated experience with relationship and consensus-building, the ability to navigate complex issues and sensitive situations, a proven track record to think strategically in the complex and evolving healthcare environment, and a high degree of professional tact and time management.

Responsible for assisting in the day-to-day management of consumer transparency program, from strategic planning through execution to launch, the primary duties include, but are not limited to:
Manage and coordinate the initial and ongoing development, approval, implementation and compliance of our next-generation consumer transparency program and solution
Assist the Consumer Transparency Director and associated Digital Product Managers in driving the strategy, business case development, solution design, feature prioritization and delivery of capabilities to competitively enhance Anthem’s digital consumer health care decision support applications
Provide and report status of key initiatives to senior level leadership; support ad-hoc leadership requests for program-level data and information
Assist in the preparation of key program-level documentation such as presentations for both internal and external consumption
Interact with key internal business and technology stakeholders, as well as external vendor, to resolve program risks and issues. Execute due diligence in escalating risks and issues to internal Anthem leadership as appropriate.
Assist in the management of various project teams associated with our consumer transparency program in order to successfully deliver on various program and project milestones.
Assist in the overall management of key external vendor relationships related to successful delivery of our transparency program.
Assist in setting direction and collaboration for key marketing, business, technology, and user experience design partners to secure project alignment and effective execution
Being subject matter expert in health care decision support, competitive and market trends, and organizational business needs – and using that knowledge to drive program strategy and execution.
BA/BS degree required or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. MBA preferred.
5 years of external consumer/client facing experience in program/project management; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Prior strategy/management consulting experience a bonus. Graduate degree preferred. Project management certification preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare industry preferred. Specific consumer transparency knowledge a bonus.
Proven track record of successful delivery and management of complex digital programs from planning to launch, as well as ability to define and track key performance metrics
Advanced experience in outlining strategies and building business cases; program budgeting experience a bonus.
Experience with a variety of development methods, including Agile and Waterfall.
Excellent strategic, analytic and critical thinking skills, combined with an ability to adjust course based on data/research findings.
Strong written/verbal communication skills and presenting strategies to senior level leadership.
Experience working with and leading cross-functional teams across marketing, operations, IT, finance, product, and legal.
Ability to work independently and navigate organizational complexities to obtain support/resources needed to move initiatives forward
Experience managing external vendor relationships
Experience working remotely for extensive periods of time a bonus
